Delphi evap tester Setup

Delphi

You’ve bought your first Delphi evap tester. Now what?

Firstly unpack everything  and plug in your  evap unit and charge it for a day. Make sure the charger is 12  VDC 1 amp  (1000ma), while it’s charging, check that you have 3 adapters; black,  blue,  & red, with the necessary washers in this order; foam, spacer, lastly  the  thin sealing washer. You’ll need to buy extra thin sealing washers… You  should  also have 2 x 16” approved clamping pliers. Next, attach the larger  diameter  hose with the quick disconnect, it will be 3’ or 10’. DO NOT  overtighten, just  nip it... hose CANNOT be over 10’ long. Next, attach your  large regulator to  your refillable bottle of nitrogen... put your thumb over the  end and turn it  on... set the gauge to 80 PSI.. remove thumb and try again...  Now, attach the  small regulator with curly hose... put your thumb over the end  of the hose and  turn the bottle on... set the small regulator to 31 PSI.. repeat a couple of  times... attach the small hose  to your evap unit... do NOT overtighten, just  nip it... turn on the bottle and  check for leaks, you can spray with Windex or  a similar product. NOTE; when  turning on your nitrogen bottle, DO IT SLOWLY,  otherwise you could blow a hose  off inside the unit.

Calibrate your Delphi evap tester

Once the evap unit is  charged, turn it and  the bottle regulator on... wait 10 mins for the gases to  settle... push 5 &  continue, the screen will show about 31 PSI… if needed adjust the small  regulator slightly so  the screen reads 31 PSI... push continue...  push 3 &  continue, this will  start a calibration... follow the prompts... ONLY connect  the hose to the  calibration tank when told to do so... set the valve to the  middle position  OFF... start the calibration by pushing continue... do NOT rush  the  calibration... when u turn the valve count to 5 before pressing continue...  when  the first stage is done the screen will read tank volume of about 2.0...  if it  doesn’t read about 2.0, note the reading & check your regulators...  turn the  machine off then back on and start the calibration again. Follow the  prompts for  the LOW stage, the screen will read around 0.020... next is the   high stage, the screen will read around 0.040... if all is good, push continue   to complete the calibration, if not, turn the machine off and repeat the   calibration after checking regulator pressures... AFTER 10 FAILED CALIBRATIONS,  YOUR UNIT WILL LOCK YOU OUT...  always call us after 2 failed  calibrations.

Setup your Delphi evap tester for your shop

Evaps are now Plug &  Play....

When using with your WIFI  BAR97 smog machine you no  longer have to contact OPUS / ESP.... connect the serial wire and select   “station manager functions”  click on it. now select “evap tester record  purge”  and click on it... the machine will say “purge successful” if everything  is  working fine. if not it will say “purge failed”... it may take a couple of  tries...

My Delphi will not calibrate

  1. My Delphi will not calibrate Check to see if your regulators are maintaining the  correct PSI, 80psi & 31psi...
  2. Press 5 & Continue, note the PSI
  3. Return in 5 mins & check that the PSI is still the same. It should not climb,
  4. In 5 more mins, check the PSI, it should still be the same.
  5. If the pressure climbs, a new small regulator will be  needed.  Delphi evaps DO NOT usually climb, they maintain the exact PSI.

Evap Operating Tips

  • Always keep your Delphi plugged in and charging. If the battery is low, your machine will NOT work correctly, it will fail evap tests & calibrations
  • Always keep your machine and nitrogen bottle in the shade - never in direct sunlight
  • Always turn off the gas bottle & your evap unit when not in use
